Let the Games Begin!

Let the Games Begin!

Do you like to spend time with your fellow Albioneers? Do you like board games? Do you like being part of a daring new plan? Then you’re in luck, because Albion is starting up a brand new concept. It’s called “ABV First Levels” (ABV as in Albion Board Games Venture) and will basically be a group of students organizing get-togethers in which we will play board games (and possibly D&D if people are interested). We are still figuring out the details, but our first meeting will be right after the exams of January. If you want to stay posted about this abundance of fun, join our Whatsapp group via this link: https://chat.whatsapp.com/DIbpiRLwdv1GNAOqNllXy1. All group participants get to co-decide when we’ll meet and what we’ll be playing!
Christmas Potluck Dinner

Christmas Potluck Dinner

What better way to celebrate Christmas than with good company, good food, and a little early? Did I say good food already? Because oh man, Christmas food. Come celebrate the end of your December exams on the 20th by joining us for a lovely Christmas dinner at Cafe de Keyzer! The only condition: everyone brings something to eat! (It is, after all, a potluck dinner.) We’ll take care of all the non-food stuff, and drinks will have to be bought on location, so you only have to consider food. Be aware that it is not possible to warm up food at De Keyzer.
> when: December 20th, 18:00
> where: Cafe de Keyzer
> sign up and tell us what you want to bring by sending an email to aac.albion@gmail.com before the 17th of December (!!)
Winter Games & Christmas Market

Winter Games & Christmas Market

Freshers, listen up! The Freshers’ Committee will provide a welcome break from the exams on the 17th of December, right when the Philology 1 exam is over. From 14:30 onward, you can come and play games all afternoon (bring your favourite games!), relax AND you can participate in an Ugly Christmas Jumper Contest! So put on your most hideous Christmas jumper and you might just win a prize! This festive gaming afternoon will end at 17:00, but the fun won’t. If you want to, you can join us for dinner and a little trip to the Leidse Kerstmarkt. Of course, this isn’t obligatory and if you want to go home after the games, that’s fine too! Lastly, if you’re not a fresher, don’t worry: this festive activity is open to all members.

It’s time for one of our favourite annual parties: karaoke! On the 6th of December, it’s your chance to shine and sing your heart out. Make sure to come early; the first 3 people who are bold enough to grab the mic will receive a free shot! Also, please don’t request Despacito, we all know that’s unsingable.

ALV-ery fun and informative so please come

ALV-ery fun and informative so please come

On the 4th of December, it’s time for the so-called ‘Tussentijdse ALV’. At this event, there will be the opportunity for members to vote for our Chief Fresher Emma Sow as an official member of board Aeonian. Moreover, the board will present the changes they want to make to the internal regulations of Albion Association (all specific information about this can be found enclosed to this e-mail). During this ‘ALV’, it will also be possible to share your opinion on various aspects of the association, or share any great ideas you might have (we know you do).

Rear Window

Rear Window

Did you know that in week 13 of class, part of the Lit1A homework is to watch the film Rear Window? And did you know that watching films together is much more fun than watching on your own? This is why the Fresher’s Committee invites all of you to come and watch Rear Window with us while enjoying snacks and each other’s company! This movie night (or early-evening homework session if you will) will take place on November 29th, at 18:00 at a yet to be on Facebook announced location. We’ll be happy to see you there! (Note: this activity is also open for people who want to rewatch Rear Window!)

Merchandise

Merchandise

Are you sick and tired of stuffing all your belongings in an old and torn up shopping bag? Would you like a soft and comfortable sweater to get through the winter days? Or do you stick to T-shirts because you always have class in one of those Eyckhof rooms where the heater is more succesful in giving off warmth than the actual sun? Then you’re in luck! Albion is considering creating merchandise and we need your opinion. If you’re interested in Albion-related sweaters, t-shirts, tote bags or if you have great other ideas for merchandise, please let us know via this poll!

Why the Koffiekamer should be called the There-is-also-Tea-Kamer

Why the Koffiekamer should be called the There-is-also-Tea-Kamer

Albion, SVS and Tanuki have teamed up to create the ultimate partea on Thursday the 29th of November. There will be enough tastea hot water to bring your wintery cold soul back to at least room temperature. Moreover, there will be cookies and such! So make sure to come and meet some fellow teanagers in the Koffiekamer P.N. van Eyckhof from 15:00-17:00. And if you don’t ever drink tea, come on, give it a chai!
