The Angler is the magazine that is created by and for students of the BA English Language and Culture in Leiden. It serves as a platform for students who are keen on writing articles on topics that interest them. The Angler is published three to four times per year. Every edition contains articles on the main subjects of the bachelor program: philology, literature, language acquisition, and linguistics. However, that just covers part of what we do.
We also feature an abundance of other items that students of English would be highly interested in to read about, such as: interviews with tutors from the English department, interviews with alumni, articles on studying abroad, columns (and even comics) by tutors, tips on creative writing, and reviews on film, theatre, literature or television series.
As a member of Albion, you can get your own printed copy. We have a limited amount, so be quick to get one! Prior to publication, we will post announcements on our Instagram account. Fear not, an online edition will be made available in the Albion biweekly as well.
We are always looking for people who would like to contribute to the magazine. If you are interested in writing or drawing for us, either as a one-off thing or on a more regular basis, be sure to follow us on Instagram to stay up to date with the latest news and events. You can also contact us at: anglereditor@gmail.com
So, if you want to get more out of your BA during your time here in Leiden, be sure to stay in touch for our next edition! Like we say at The Angler: Engels is tof.
